TTC 46 Weinheim ladies draw in Dachau and win in Kolbermoor
Hardly anyone had expected three points from the Bavarian tour. The ladies of TTC 46 Weinheim have thus proven that they want to have a say at the top this season too.
Coach Rainer Schmidt’s team was already 5:2 ahead at TSV Dachau when the hosts managed to secure the remaining games. They shared the points in the doubles, as Yuan Wan and Tung-Chuan Chien won quite clearly against Sabine Winter/Tin-Tin Ho, while Ece Harac and Mateja Jeger narrowly lost to Seoyoung Byun/Koharu Itagaki in extra time.
Tung-Chuan Chien is playing a really convincing season. Even against the new signing from Dachau, the Korean Seoyoung Byun, she came from 2-1 down to win clearly in the end. Next door, the sick Yuan Wan had no chance against Sabine Winter and lost 0:3.
There were real thrillers in the back four. Both Ece Harac and Mateja Jeger had to go into the deciding set against Koharu Itagaki and Tin-Tin Ho respectively, but then just managed to come out on top. However, both left their coaches trembling, and the interim score of 4:2 gave hope of a win.
Yuan Wan also had to give up against Seoyoung Byun in the fifth set. Tung-Chuan Chien again brought victory to the fifth point when she kept Sabine Winter at bay with a 3:1 win.
Neither Ece Harac nor Mateja Jeger were able to score the final winning point. Both were narrowly defeated in what was ultimately a fair draw that kept TTC 46 ahead of the hosts in the table.
With the 6:1 victory in Kolbermoor, the women consolidated their great position in the table with 9:1 in first place, as the only team without a defeat.
The hosts had to do without their top player Annett Kaufmann, which increased the chances for the TTC quartet.
With two doubles wins, the Weinheim team immediately set a strong example. Harac/Jeger were already through after three sets against Gotsch/Tiefenbrunner, Wan/Chien only lost the second round against Arapovic/Lang, but then took control of the match.
Tung-Chuan Chien made things exciting against Qianhong Gotsch when she conceded the next two sets after going 2-0 up, but then demonstrated her strength with an 11-1 win.
Yuan Wan was on course for victory after clearly winning the third set, but then not much came together against Hana Arapovic and she lost in the fifth, ultimately scoring the honorary point for the hosts.
The match between Kristin Lang and Mateja Jeger was also close, with Mateja losing 8:11 in the deciding set. Ece Harac won her match against Laura Tiefenbrunner 3:1.
The duels in the front pair went the full distance again. Yuan Wan struggled to win 11:8 against the defensive artist Qianhong Gotsch after a changeable course of the match and thus the sixth point. Tung-Chuan Chien would have suffered her first defeat with 2:3 against Arapovic, but fortunately this did not count towards the score.
A surprisingly successful trip to Bavaria with great performances made for satisfied faces of the responsible persons before the last preliminary round match next Friday in their own hall against the German champions ttc berlin eastside, who can also be defeated with this form, especially since the Berliners still go into the matches without their top players.
