The opponents with personnel problems

The ladies of the TTC 46 get two more victories against Böblingen and Weil

In the end, it was a must-win: The home match of the TTC 46 Weinheim ladies against SV Böblingen was a one-sided affair, as the guests were able to come to the Bergstrasse with only two players suitable for the national league. They had been looking forward to German junior hopeful Annett Kaufmann, but she as well as other players of the first team had to be replaced. So in the end the scoreboard showed a 6:2, so to say a match „TTC 46 against Qianhong Gotsch“.

For the TTC, the entire quintet was able to take to the court; Bruna Takahashi was limited to a doubles match because she had twisted her ankle in training.

The foundation for the success was laid by the two doubles. While Bruna and Mateja Jeger had an easy time with two substitutes from the Landesliga and won clearly, Yuan Wan and Sophia Klee had to face two heavyweights in Qianhong Gotsch and Mitsuki Yoshida. After clearly losing the first set, both players from Weinheim improved and brought their match home surprisingly clearly.
Yuan Wan was also challenged in the singles against Mitsuki Yoshida, but won 3:1.

Next to her, Giorgia Piccolin moved to the top singles and had to play against the defensive artist Qianhong Gotsch. Giorgia played a great match, took a 1:0 lead and had set point in the second set. Then suddenly Gotsch was ahead 2:1, Giorgia equalized and was also ahead again in the deciding set after being behind, even with a match point, but then lost by a razor-thin margin.

As expected, Mateja Jeger and Sophia Klee had no problems in the back pair against the underclassed players from Böblingen.
While Giogia Piccolin delivered a performance worth seeing against Mitsuki Yoshida and secured the overall victory with a 3:0 score, it went back and forth between Yuan Wan and Qianhong Gotsch. Gotsch won the first set, Yuan the next two. But then Gotsch clearly prevailed.

ESV Weil was not able to send its best players either. With Hana Arapovic and Plona Dobreva they were missing their number 1 and 3, so that the current last team in the table could not really hope for a surprise against the current table leader from Weinheim.
On the Weinheim side, coach Andreas Dörner had to do without Yuan Wan, who has already flown to Jordan for the WTT tournament, where she will be followed by Bruna Takahashi and Giorgia Piccolin, who will only join the action after the qualification there.

With the 1:6 the ESV Weil does not get away from the bottom of the table, the TTC 46 still leads the field, even if the distances in front are only minimal.
While Bruna and Mateja had little trouble with Ievgeniia Sozoniuk and Cynthia Lilly, Giorgia and Sophia had to stretch themselves against Izabela Lupulesku and Vivien Scholz before they got the second point with 3:2.
It was Lupulesku who earned the only point for the South Baden team. In a rather even match against Giorgia, she finally won 3:1.
Bruna hardly gave Ievgeniia Sozoniuk a chance at 3:0.

After winning sets 1 and 2 clearly, Sophia had a lapse in the third set when she gave away a clear lead. But in the fourth set she closed the bag. For Mateja, Weil’s Cynthia Lilly was only a challenge in the second set, but then she was also through with 3:0.
The final point was set by Bruna quite unchallenged with 3:0 against Izabela Lupulesku to 6:1.

With these two victories, Andreas Dörner’s team has consolidated its place at the top of the table, which it will have to defend in the last two games of the season in Langstadt and at home against Schwabhausen. The actual championship will then be decided in the play-off matches, for which the TTC 46 is of course already qualified. It would be nice to have one of the first two places in the table, which would already guarantee participation in the semifinals.
